Sailing in Denmark – Part 5: Nivå Havn
Welcome to another post about Denmark’s beautiful sailing destinations 🙂
A couple of weeks ago the Harba team visited Nivå Havn and we loved it! This is why we want to tell you about this charming marina today. It is a lively harbor, located 500m east from Nivå, with a lovely bathing beach neighboring it and cute cafés and restaurants close by. A perfect destination to have a few relaxing days 🙂
What you should know about the harbour
Nivå Havn is based 33 km from Copenhagen and 3 km from Humlebæk centrum. The harbor offers space for 426 boats, you can book a guest berth before you start your sailing trip as well. Nivå Harbour is equipped with toilet and shower facilities and you can get information and help at a small harbor office. For food and snacks, you can visit the ice cream stand and restaurants directly at the harbor or use the barbecue areas near the quay.
What can you do?
There is a lot to do around the harbor and in the area. The beach located next to the marina is very child-friendly and there are lifeguards during the summer months. No matter if you want to spend a calm and relaxing day at the beach with your family or do some windsurfing or kayaking – a lot of activities are possible and you will definitely not get bored. You will also find a fantastic bird sanctuary close by the beach.
The area around Nivå Havn is wonderful and you can discover it with bikes, which you can rent for free from the port. You can bike to the city or at the coast line and enjoy the beautiful landscape.
But what if the weather is grey and cold, so you can’t enjoy a beach day and you don’t want to go on a bike tour? Well, in that case, we would recommend you to go to the Nivaagaards Art Collection. The museum’s collection consists of works from the European Renaissance, Baroque and the Danish Golden Age. There are different collections and exhibitions during the year and within the museum you can find a shop and a cute café as well. For information about the current exhibition, you can visit the official website in English here.
Behind the museum you will find Nivaagaard Park, a wonderful place to end your visit. You will find colorful and splendid Rhododendron throughout the entire park, with over thousand different species. Doesn’t it sound worth a visit? 🙂
